Conduct & Expectations

You are college-level umpires and you know the expectations. Be respectful to tournament staff, hotel staff, coaches, players, and to one another. You can absolutely have fun while still taking care of business.

  • Focus on what you can control on the field.
  • Don't yell at partners — cover what you can and work as a crew.
  • Game assignments are based on field performance and how you work as a crewmate.
On & off the field

Uniform & Dress Code

On the Field — College Uniform
  • Charcoal pants
  • Plain electric or navy shirt
  • Plain navy hat
  • Plain navy ball bags
  • Solid black shoes (NO patent leather)
  • Bring a water bottle — don't rely on the water cart
Off the Field — Athletic Casual
  • Golf shorts or equivalent
  • Polos or collared shirts
  • NO cut-offs or tank tops
Where you'll stay

Lodging — Butler House & Hotels

Week 1 — Everyone at Butler House

The Butler House

A large fraternity house with 51 beds — rooms hold 2 or 3 people. Large dining area with two TVs and a small galley kitchen with very limited fridge space. Shared bathrooms (men share the large bathrooms/showers; women rotate through a single bathroom/shower).

Bedding tip: Dorm-style beds. You'll get a thin blanket, pillow, flat sheet and pillowcase. Strongly suggest bringing (or buying once there) a twin mattress topper, sheet set, and blanket for any extra comfort.
Week 2: 49 umpires at Butler House, everyone else at hotels (TBD).
Week 3: Some may return to Butler House — those beds are priority fills.
Everyone has a roommate regardless of location. If you have a roommate request, family nearby, or other arrangements, note it on the intake form.

RefR Account Setup

  1. 1
    Create your account ASAP
    Sign up at app.refrsports.com.
  2. 2
    Add Assignor: Right Call Umpires
Clear all filters, scroll to the 'R' section, select Right Call Umpires, and wait for approval.
  3. 3
    Set up your payment account
You will be asked for your SSN — this serves as your W9. RefR only sends 1099s if you earn $20,000+ on the site for the year.
  4. 4
No payment setup = no games
You will not be assigned to any games until payment setup is complete (assigning without it resets pay to $0 and creates extra work).
Schedule: Live Google Sheet. We aim to post a couple days at a time; the next day's schedule will be available by 8 pm each night. Delays will be communicated by email.
Game certification: Games are grouped by time slot and field block (e.g. all umpires on D13–D16 at 8 am are blocked as one "game"). Games are certified nightly — once certified, fees release to your RefR account immediately. Instant transfer is 2.9% + $0.75; regular transfers list as 2–4 days but typically arrive next business morning.
